We’re facing a critical funding gap at the very moment we need to reinvent what tech education looks like.

To keep training adults for careers in tech, while pivoting to meet a rapidly changing job market, we’ve set a goal to raise $25,000 by December 2nd, GivingTuesday, a global day of giving and $100,000 by December 31st. Your donation today will help us keep the door open for the next wave of tech talent.

AI is reshaping everything. For the past couple of years, the hiring of juniors in tech has been stalled. Originally, economic uncertainty, such as over-hiring during the pandemic, inflation, trade policy, and interest rates were the big drivers. But the evolution of generative AI, first in the background, and now predominating, has become the major source of uncertainty and is fueling the continued dramatic slow down in the hiring of junior talent.

It’s become clear that the skills needed for tech careers are changing rapidly—and not just for entry level jobs. The path into tech is changing and NSS is working to build a new bridge to help people cross it. We’ve been listening, learning, and responding—by rewriting our curriculum, creating new career pathways, expanding continuing education, and supporting both newcomers and experienced professionals through ProTech who need to reskill, whether or not they were originally trained at NSS.

In short: We’re building a new bridge even as we support and encourage those still crossing the current one.

We are facing a crisis. The state of the job market for entry-level talent is still soft. This has many prospective students waiting rather than enrolling. Our 2025 cohorts ran at historically low levels; below even the reduced levels we had budgeted for. We were able to adapt. Unfortunately, enrollments for early 2026 have suddenly fallen even lower and are projected to fall below the level required to sustain even a downsized NSS.

As a result, we are being forced to make tough decisions just to stay open and keep serving students and seekers through this transition.

Surviving this moment requires funding. We need your help to bridge NSS into the future.

What’s on the line right now?
Our first priority is to ensure that all of our current students and seekers continue to get the instructional and job search support that all NSS graduates have traditionally received/you received. That’s the NSS promise

Here are two ways you can help now

  1. Refer a student: While the job market is slow, there are still opportunities, especially for those who are highly motivated. If you know anyone who is eager to start a career in tech, our January software development and data analytics bootcamps are open for applications—there’s still time to apply.
  2. Make a donation and help us bridge the gap. $25,000 won’t solve everything, but it helps us protect what matters most. Your donation by GivingTuesday will help us make critical decisions.

Your donation will help us:

  • Sustain our programs through a period of transition
  • Continue adapting our curriculum to meet the moment
  • Extend our ProTech programs to upskill current professionals
  • Keep NSS open for the next generation of talent

We’re not done yet. We’ve helped thousands cross into tech careers. With your support, we’ll keep the bridge open for those who need it next.
